Another member of the cySystem family is cyGateway. With cyGateway PHP applications are now able to use the services of cyProvider as well. PHP is a powerful programming language offering extensions for many databases. However each extension has a different command syntax that the PHP developer has to adopt. Even the PHP community has recognized this disadvantage and is working on Adodb (currently Beta), an ADO - Interface (ActiveX Data Objects), which is supposed to provide a joint command syntax for all databases. The future will show whether Adodb will also be suitable for the access to remote databases.

cySystem consists of the cyAgent as a frontend, cyProvider as a backend and cyCreater as an integrated development environment.
cyProvider is a Windows service which acts as a server. It administers the cySystem applications whose descriptions lie in the form of definition files (CDD, cySystem definition Data) in a directory and provides them for the cyAgent. In addition, in its function as the data provider, cyProvider makes the required data available to the cySystem applications. All structured data sources, e.g., text files, spreadsheets, data banks and also SAP®-data-sources are supported. Using the integrated cyGateway the cyProvider data access functions are also available to all web server developments in the PHP sphere.
cyAgent is a proxy-capable application browser which presents real Windows applications as opposed to a web browser. It works locally as a client on the user PC and disposes extensive analysing-, updating- and reporting-functionality. cyCreater is an integrated development environment with which cySystem-applications can be defined. Probably it will be available in the end of 2008 also with a graphic user interface. At the moment the Secure Application Defining (abbr. SAD) for the generation of the definition files (CDD) still occurs with any text editor. In addition, cyCreater includes the following components:
